Arid, spectacular, this desert landscape is other worldly. Captivated by its colors, contrasts and vastness, I was inspired to revisit my Looking series, after more than a decade, shooting out-of-focus vegetation and people engaged in a singular contemplation. Here, it was rare to capture anyone "looking” without the presence of a cell phone. Nature, in its immersive, strange beauty is still there, yet now co-existent with a remorseless and ever pervasive technology. No solitary romantic imaginary, there is no escape to our being mediated. It is perhaps, the beginning of another series.
Ireland summer 2018
A beautiful summer, many walks, views, and conversations. Days unfold, time opens to the expansiveness of evening light. A few shots from West Kerry to the Wicklow mountains reconnecting with my ongoing Looking series from views to out-of-focus ground cover.
